Reclawing a Ring
Step 1
Re-tipping or reclawing a broken or worn down claw is essential to ensure the security of your diamonds or coloured gem stones. Pictured here is a broken claw.
Step 3
We solder the new claw to the setting ensuring the diamond or gem stone is protected from the heat by using a flux agent.
Step 5
The final process is the polishing and cleaning of the setting and the ring. We would then rhodium plate the white gold areas if required, to ensure the finish was of high quality
Step 2
We draw down gold wire at the required length to replace or retip the damaged or worn claw.
Step 4
Once the new claw or new tip is soldered securely, we then file the claw to the correct length and thickness to match the existing setting. We then emery the claw to maintain a smooth surface before polishing.
