The LeGassick story began seventeen years ago, when Ted and Shirley LeGassick purchase their first store at the Logan Hyperdome Loganholme Brisbane. They began with a small workshop, one jeweller, one watchmaker and just three sales assistants. From humble beginnings the LeGassick name and reputation began to grow with each passing year, and so did the demand for their services and exclusive jewellery.

In 1993 one of Ted and Shirley’s three sons, Wade, decided he would join the family business and took up a jewellery apprenticeship in the company. A few years later, Wade was followed by his brother Kenton. Both Wade and Kenton completed their studies four years later, both with exceptional results in jewellery craft. The eldest of the three brothers, Darryn, joined the rest of the family in the jewellery business in 1998, helping in the general running of the store.

Now with Ted, Shirley and their three sons all involved, the LeGassick name was ready to expand. In 2000 a second store was opened at the Runaway Bay Shopping Village, Runaway Bay, Gold Coast. With two watchmakers, six jewellers, five diamond graders, a gem setter and a highly experienced sales team on board the company continued to grow very rapidly and it looked as though another outlet would soon be required. In April of 2009, the third store was opened at Robina Town Centre, Robina Gold Coast. All three stores have been built, presented and operated with the same company values of exceptional jewellery and service, which has carried them for the past seventeen years.

Shirley and Darryn LeGassick have attended all the world’s major jewellery trade fairs, including Vincenza Italy, Las Vegas USA, Basel Switzerland and of course the Hong Kong jewellery fair, searching for the most beautiful designs and best craftsmanship to suit the LeGassick style.

The family still hand select every piece that is in their stores, from the five carat diamonds to the forty nine dollar gold earrings, as they all must be worthy of bearing the LeGassick name.

“Having those different unusual pieces from around the world is definitely something our clients want. So we do our best to find these pieces,” says Darryn. “If its something that is the client’sown design our jewellers will draw, design and handcraft the perfect piece.”The LeGassick style is often described as classic and simple, yet beautifully refined, and always subtly different.

The LeGassick family plans to spend the near future building their three stores, improving all areas of the business and ensuring that all the commitments and obligations to their clients are met, fulfilled and exceeded.

Beyond that, the family would like to explore the possibility of diversifying their name into other business ventures using the same philosophies they use today.
